Silvia Dekker
Silvia Dekker grew up as the daughter of an arborist in a small village in
the middle of the flower district in the Netherlands.
After graduating in Conceptual art and design at the Royal academy of art in
the Netherlands in 1997 she studied Fashion and textile design, for which
she received her BA in 2000. For her graduation show she designed 4 surface
pattern collections for children's rooms.
Silvia started working as an illustrator and surface pattern designer in
2001. She has worked for a large number of companies in Europe and
North-America, designing patterns and making illustrations for many
different products such as baby- and girl's wear, bedding, toys, home décor,
postcards, Christmas cards and stationery. She is represented by Lilla
Rogers studio.
Silvia now lives in the old city centre of Leiden (the city where Rembrandt
was born, close to Amsterdam) in the Netherlands with her partner, two cats
and two boys Felix and Silvester. In her spare time she enjoys riding her
bike around the countryside and gardening in her allotment with her family.
